Reflexology is a non invasive holistic complementary health therapy that helps to restore, support and balance the whole body. All treatments are tailored to your individual specific healthcare issues/needs and takes into account your lifestyle. Treatment supports the body to heal and manage conditions as well as help with general relaxation and stress management.

Is Reflexology safe?

Yes, reflexology is a safe complementary treatment. It is important that you seek a well trained, insured, professional practitioner that is registered with the AoR (Association of Reflexologists). I am registered with the AoR and you will be able to find my name in the website directory.

What to do after treatment?

Do take it easy after treatment - make sure you try and rest. Drink plenty of fluids after treatment ideally water or herbal teas. Avoid alcohol and cigarettes and minimise the intake of caffeine.

Avoid heavy meals.

What should I expect afterwards?

Each client is an individual and will experience their Reflexology session in a different way. Your practitioner will discuss aftercare with you.

Most clients report feeling deeply relaxed and an improved sense of wellbeing afterwards.

Responses to treatment

From time to time, as the body continues to heal itself, you may have a response to treatment where the body takes a little bit longer to come back to a state of balance. This is known as a healing reaction and the following symptoms are common:

  • Cold like symptoms - a blocked or runny nose, coughing up mucous, sweating, feeling chilly, headache.
  • Feeling more tired than usual.
  • Feeling light headed or nauseas.
  • Wanting to use the toilet more frequently.
  • Feeling more thirsty.
  • Emotional release - laughing, crying, feeling irritable or sensitive.
  • Temporary worsening of other symptoms.

Symptoms should last no longer than 12-48 hours and some will clear up after a few hours as the body begins to rebalance itself. The practitioner will ask you on your next visit about any responses you have had, but if you are concerned about your symptoms or they get worse please contact your GP as there may be another reason that you are feeling like this.
